Creative Activities list

Here are some thoughts and ideas as to how you can be involved in the National Rain Day creative campaign:

  • Download one of the two Meditation guidelines (one on rivers and waterways and the other on rain) and perform the meditation ritual described under the What is National Rain Day tab.
  • Download the May to April "Love Our Rivers calendar template and create your own calendars for the children to give as gifts etc
  • Do the crossword and word find puzzle (at the bottom of this page).
Invite children to:
  • Sing songs about rivers
  • Tell or write stories about experiences around rivers
  • Draw, colour or paint pictures of rivers
  • Write or recite a poem about rivers
  • Create or perform a play about rivers
  • Create a model of rivers
  • Visit a local waterway and observe/record the flora and fauna and health of the area

Hold an exhibition displaying the artwork/stories/poems/models:

  • In the school
  • At the local library
  • At the local shopping centre
  • At a local neighbourhood house/community centre
  • Invite the local newspaper to run an article featuring the work of the students
  • Include some of the work in the school newsletter
Use the children's artwork to create:
  • Gift cards (e.g. Mothers Day) and postcards
  • School book covers
  • Computer screen savers
  • Art transfers for T-shirts, mugs etc.
  • Calenders
